When Mary first started writing at age 36, she was shy about telling anyone. Finally, she gained enough courage to take a few chapters to her neighbor, a retired high school English teacher. With encouragement, she kept writing and became a member and officer of a writers group.
Four of her magazine articles on ghost towns in Northeast Oregon were published and she completed seven fiction manuscripts, one of which is MAYA’S GOLD, then A PLACE TO LAND, WANTING MOORE and A RIVER RENDEZVOUS all published by Black Lyon Publishing.
Her books, A HAUNTING IN TRILLIUM FALLS, NUGGET OF TIME, GOLDBRICK, and two inspirational children's books, THE BIG GUY UPSTAIRS and BIJU SILVER LINING, are published through her own imprint, Melland Publishing.
Melland Publishing has also published children’s books, EMMA COMES THROUGH and MOLLY’S MONKEYSHINES by author Velma Parker and MURDER AT NO. 23 PUMP HOUSE by Gary Novo.
